iphone in India through Vodafone & Airtel

Though it was not a real wait , the less mortals in India can now pick up an iphone albeit it will be some time after September. Till date , the only source was to get an iphone during a trip to US or UK or buy it through the grey market at a premium. I think it is good timing post iphone 2.0 launch scheduled for June 2008. Let us see if Apple drops prices further .   BTW , I used a unlocked iphone and it is very user friendly , my 3 year son can vouch for it..

Singapore Telecommunications (aka SingTel) announced that it's secured agreements to distribute the iPhone in Singapore (on SingTel Mobile) and its partly-owned subsidiaries in Australia (on Optus), India (on Bharti Group), and the Philippines (on Globe Telecom). Vodafone's also distributing the iPhone in India and Australia though, so we'll have to wait until later this year to find out who gets to shoot first.
